NTU Tamil Literary Society

2019 நடைப்பெற்ற ஆண்டிறுதி கூட்டம் இந்திய மரபுடமை கழகத்தில் நடந்தேறியது. முதலாம் செயற்குழுவின் தலைவர் இளமாரன் தன் செயற்குழுவின் கீழ் நடந்த நிகழ்வுகளை பற்றி பகிர்ந்து கொண்டார். பிறகு இரண்டாம் செயற்குழுவின் தலைவர் சுந்தர் பதவி ஏற்றுக்கொண்டு தன்னுடைய குறிக்கோள்களை கூறினார். கூட்டத்திற்கு முன்னாள் மாணவர்கள், தமிழ் இலக்கிய மன்ற மாணவர்கள் மற்றும் சமூக தலைவர்கள் கலந்துக்கொண்டனர். நிகழ்ச்சிக்கு பிறகு மதிய உணவு பரிமாறப்பட்டது. அனைவரும் உண்டு் களித்து மகிழ்ந்தனர். இரண்டாம் செயற்குழுவின் பயணம் இனிதே ஆரம்பித்தது.

The Annual General Meeting 2017 was held at IHC. The first outgoing NTU TLS Alumni Association’s executive committee President Elamran gave a brief overview of all the achievements and initiatives done by AA in the 2 years. Following that, the incoming second executive committee President, Sundar Plavenderraj gave his vision and goals for the upcoming 2 years and how he plans to execute them with his team. This event was graced by many Tamil leaders from various organisations and congratulated the association for stepping into its 3rd year. After a dance performance, dinner was served.  

இளவேனில் - தமிழ் மொழி மாதத்தில், தமிழ் சமூகத்திற்காக, NTU தமிழ் இலக்கிய மன்ற முன்னாள் மாணவர் சங்கம் ஒவ்வோர் ஆண்டும் ஏற்பாடு செய்யும் நிகழ்ச்சியாகும். இளவேனில் 2018 முக்கிய கருப்பொருள் இளம் பட்டதாரிகளிடையே தமிழ் மொழியும் அதன் வேறுபட்ட அம்சங்களும் அவர்களின் வாழ்க்கையை எவ்வாறு மாற்றியமைத்துள்ளது என்பதாகும். வசந்தம் படைப்பாளரான இலக்கியா, பல தமிழ் மேடை நாடங்களில் நடிக்கும் ஷேக், தமிழின் மேல் அதிக ஆர்வம் கொண்ட வெள்ளிநிலா போன்ற தமிழ் இலக்கிய மன்ற முன்னாள் மாணவ சங்கத்தின் உறுப்பினர்கள் இந்நிகழ்ச்சியில் பங்கேற்று தங்கள் பயணத்தை பகிர்ந்துக்கொண்டார். தமிழ் ஆசிரியரான சையத், தமிழோடு தனக்கு இருக்கும் உறவை அழகாக கூறினார். உள்ளூர் கலைஞரும், தமிழ் நாட்டில் வளர்ந்து வரும் இசை அமைப்பாளருமான சபீரும் இந்நிகழ்ச்சிக்கு வந்து சிறப்பளித்தார். தமிழ் மொழி எவ்வாறு அவரின் கனவுகளை நினைவாக்க உறுதுனையாக இருந்ததென்று கருத்தரங்கில் பகிர்ந்துக்கொண்டார். சிங்கப்பூர் தேசிய நூலக வாரியத்தில் நடைப்பெற்ற இந்நிகழ்ச்சியில் 100க்கும் மேற்பட்ட தமிழ் ஆர்வளர்கள் கலந்துக்கொண்டனர்.

 

As a debutant event, Ilavenil 2018 was held in conjunction with the Tamil Language Festival (TLF) for the first time at The Pod, NLB. The main objective of the event was to have young adults share how Tamil language or the different aspects of Tamil has influenced and impacted their future, career and lives. Our special guest for this event was, Shabir, a famous local singer, actor and upcoming music director in Indian cinema. He shared how Tamil has enabled him to achieve his dreams and improve his music career tremendously. The event had good reviews and feedback, with about 100 people attending the event.

இது ஒரு பாடநெறி அடிப்படையிலான திட்டமாகும். இதில் TLS முன்னாள் மாணவர்கள், TLS தற்போதைய மாணவர்களுக்காக எதிர்காலத்தில் தெரிந்து கொள்ள வேண்டிய அடிப்படை மற்றும் அத்தியாவசிய திறன்களைப் பற்றி நடத்தப்பட்ட பட்டறையாகும். வேலைவாய்ப்பு நேர்காணல் திறன்கள், சுயவிவரம் எழுதுதல், நிதி மற்றும் அடிப்படை எக்செல் (Excel) நுட்பங்கள் பற்றிய பட்டறைகள் வேலைவாய்பு தேட கூடுதல் மதிப்பு சேர்க்க உதவும். இந்த புதிய முயற்சி மிகவும் சிறப்பாகச் சென்றது. இது அடுத்த கல்வியாண்டில் செமஸ்டர் 2 மாணவர்களிடமிருந்து அதிக கோரிக்கை விடுக்கப்பட்ட தலைப்புகளுடன் மட்டுமல்லாமல் எங்களிடமிருந்து என்ன கற்றுக்கொள்ள விரும்புகிறார்கள் என்பதைப் பொறுத்து தொடரும்.

Project Sago is a course based project where TLS alumni run a series of workshops for our TLS juniors on basic but essential skills that are required in their future working world. These include interview skills, resume writing, finance & basic excel techniques which will add value to their overall esteem. This new initiative went fairly well and it will be continued in the next academic year in Semester 2 with more focused topics that were requested specifically from juniors as well. 

முன்னாள் மாணவ்ர்களுடன் உல்லாசமாக ஒரு நாள் கழிக்க Sentosa Adventure Cove செல்ல திட்டமிட பட்டது. இந்நிகழ்வில் கலந்துக்கொண்ட அனைவரும் மகிழ்ச்சியாக பொழுதை கழித்தனர். இது போன்று மேலும் பல இன்பமான திட்டங்களை நடத்த வேண்டும் என்று தங்கள் விருப்பத்தினை தெரிவித்தனர்.

As an alumni association, one of the main objectives and initiatives was to bond and bring our past TLS members together. This bonding day was held at Sentosa Adventure Cove and 15 members of AA joined to spend the whole day out. More such alumni bonding events should be encouraged in order for AA to organise as it brings together all our past members together and reminisces their past university days.

பொங்கல் உள்ளூர் சமூக நலத் திட்டம் (LCIP), NTU TLS உடன் இணைந்து நடத்தப்பட்டது. இந்நிகழ்வில் பிள்ளைகளுக்கு கதைகள் கற்றுக்கொடுத்து, மகிழ்ச்சியாக விளையாடி பொழுதை கழித்தோம். பிறகு மாலைப் பொழுதில் NUS, SMU தமிழ் அமைப்புகளுடன் சேர்ந்து  பொங்கல் விழாவை கொண்டாடினோம். மேடையிலேயே பொங்கல் பொங்கவைத்து ஆடல் பாடல் நிகழ்ச்சிகளுடன் நிகழ்ச்சி கோலாகலமாக நடந்தேரியது.

A Local Community Involvement Program (LCIP) event was organised together with NTU TLS and their Pongal cultural show in 2019. An opportunity to collaborate with other community parties to help and give back to our Tamil community is always welcomed by TLS and AA. The LCIP part was held at IHC on the first half of the day where TLS and AA members came together and played games with a group of primary school kids. Reading storybooks, learning new songs and playing games with the kids were some of the activities done during the LCIP. After this, a Pongal cultural show was held at NTU LKC auditorium where the 3 university TLS Students came together. Pongal was also made live on stage where the 4 organisation presidents came together and celebrated. 

இளவேனில் - இளவேனில் 2019 தமிழ் மொழி மாதத்தில் மீண்டும் நடத்தப்பட்டது. இவ்வாண்டு நிகழ்ச்சியில் தமிழ் மொழி மற்றும் தொழில்நுட்பம் சார்ந்த தலைப்புகள் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டது. நம் சமூகத்திற்க்கு இணையத்தின் வாயிலாக வரக்கூடிய ஆபத்து, அதற்கான விழிப்புணர்வு மற்றும் பாதுகாப்பு வழிகள் போன்றவை இந்நிகழ்ச்சியில் கற்பிக்கபட்டது. இயந்திரம் வழி கற்றல் மற்றும் செயற்கை நுண்ணறிவு போன்ற தொழில்நுட்பம் சார்ந்த வழிகளில் எவ்வாறு தமிழ் மொழியின் பயன்பாட்டையும் மேம்படுத்தலாம் என்றும் ஆலோசிக்கபட்டது.

Ilavenil 2.0 in 2019, was again done in collaboration with the Tamil Language Festival (TLF) 2019. The objective of this event was to raise awareness of cyber crimes and emerging technologies such as machine learning and artificial intelligence. It was also to show how technology can be applied for the betterment of our Tamil language and usage. We also had a discussion session and a few interactive hands-on booths for the audience to walk around, learn in-depth on the current cyber-related issues and even try out some new technology for themselves. With a total of 100 people attending, this event had a good response. In this technologically advancing world, many are still in the dark regarding both the pros and cons of technology. Hence this knowledge and informative session gave them a lot of awareness.

வெளிநாட்டுக்கும் சென்று முடிந்த உதவியை செய்ய முன்னால் மாணவர் சங்கம் முன்பட்டது. சமூக நலத்திட்டம் ஃ, மன்றத்தின் வெளிநாட்டு சமூக ஈடுபாட்டு திட்டமாகும். மியான்மரில் இருக்கும் தமிழ் சமூகத்தினர் தமிழ் மொழியை பேணிக் காக்க செய்யும் முயற்சிகளுக்கு மெருகுசேர்த்து ஆதரவு அளிக்க  இந்த 5 நாள் திட்டம் உருவாக்கப்பட்டது. இந்த அணியில் மாணவர்களையும் முன்னாள் மாணவர்களையும் சேர்த்து  மொத்தம் 9  பேர் இருந்தனர். மியான்மரில் டல்லா மற்றும் பீலிக்கன் கிராமங்களில் படிக்கும் மாணவர்களுக்குச் சுகாதார முதலுதவி வகுப்புகள், ஓவிய வகுப்புகள் நடத்தப்பட்டது. அங்குள்ள மாணவர்களுக்கு கணிணி வசதிகளும் செய்து கொடுத்து, தமிழில் எப்படி தட்டச்சு செய்ய வேண்டும் என்பதையும் கற்றுகொடுத்தனர். பள்ளிக்குத் தேவையான கட்டமைப்பை உருவாக்கவும் உதவி செய்தனர். மாணவர்களுக்கு இரவில் சுடரொளிக் கொண்டாட்டமும் ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டிருந்தது. அதில் தெனாலி ராமன் நாடகத்தை NTU முன்னாள் மாணவர்கள் அரங்கேற்றினர். இந்த பயணத்திற்கு முன்பாகவெ, May 2019, ஒரு முறை மியான்மர் சென்று, அங்கு தேவையான விவரங்களை சேகரித்து வந்தனர் குழுவினர். இந்தப் பயணம் சமூக நலத்திட்டம் ஃ சிறப்பாக அமைய மிகவும் உறுதுணையாக இருந்தது.

Project ஃ is an Overseas Community Involvement Project (OCIP) initiative in which AA aided a Tamil community overseas. We chose Myanmar Tamil Community for our first visit and targeted two schools in villages called Peelikan and Dalla to improve their infrastructure. AA provided them with multiple study aids, art and crafts, refurbished their tables & chairs, with added technological gadgets such as the projector & computers. We also did a quick course on how to use the computer for youths who help out regularly at the school. Art lessons, Tamil games, soccer and many more fun activities were also organised for the younger children. It also added up as a cultural exchange and self-learning experience for the 10 members who went over. In overview, it was a successful OCIP and we intend to continue this project in the near future as well. AA is also planning to continue this initiative. Concurrently, the research for other countries where we can extend our help for Tamil communities is also being done. Before this trip, a recce trip was also done by 3 members, to begin the planning phase. This was necessary in relation to forming bonds and creating the groundwork for future trips. It also helped greatly in the detailed planning that was done extensively for the trip in 2019. Since this was a new country to all of us, forming bonds with the Tamil community there helped greatly as they supported us well too.

மற்ற சமூக அமைப்புகளுடன் இணைந்து செயல்பட்டு தமிழ் சமூகத்திற்கு உதவ  நம் சங்கம் தீவிரமாக முயன்று வருகிறது. ஆதலால், தேசிய நூலக வாரியத்துடன் இணைந்து, 'திறண்பேசி ரொம்ப ஈஸி' என்னும்  பட்டறையை முதியவர்களுக்காக NTU TLS AA நடத்தியது. இதன் மூலம் முதியவர்களுக்கு கைத்தொலைப்பேசியில் உள்ள அத்தியாவசிய அம்சங்களை உபயோகிக்க சுலபமாக தமிழில் கற்றுக்கொடுத்தோம். கலந்துகொண்டவர்கள் பெரிதும் பயனடைந்ததாக கூறினர்.

In October 2019, NTU TLS AA conducted a physical workshop for senior citizens called ‘Thiranpesi Romba Easy’ which loosely translates to “Smartphones Made Easy”. Due to the rapid technological advances, senior citizens are finding it increasingly difficult to cope up with the advances too. Hence the objective of this event was to help them understand their smartphones and how they can use technology to their advantage even in this age. This event was done in collaboration with NLB. It was a part of our many community involvement initiatives where we strive to give back to our Tamil community and help them out as much as we could too. We often collaborate with other organisations to have a greater impact through our initiatives and reach out to as many as possible.

வசந்தம் தமிழ் செய்தியின் தமிழ்ச்சுடர் 2019 விருதுகளில் முதன்முறையாக வழங்கப்பட்ட புத்தாக்கப் பிரிவின் விருது நமது முன்னாள் மாணவர் சங்கத்திற்க்கு வழ்ங்கப்பட்டது. புதிதான விதத்தில் இளவேனில் மற்றும் சமூக நல திட்டம் ஃ போன்ற நிகழ்ச்சிகளை நடத்தி, தமிழ் சமுதாயத்துக்குத் தொண்டாற்றியதற்காக இவ்விருது வழங்கப்பட்டது. வளர்ந்து வரும் நம் சங்கத்திற்கு மேலும் பல தமிழ் தொண்டுகள் ஆற்ற இது பெரிதும் ஊக்கம் அளித்தது.

Mediacorp Vasantham’s Tamil Seithi held the annual Tamil Sudar 2019 awards. This is an event done to recognise Tamil youths, organisations and societies for their hard work and effort in improving the Tamil Community. In its inaugural award in the Innovation category, NTU TLS AA received the award for its community initiatives like Ilavenil and  OCIP Project ஃ. This award is a recognition of NTU TLS AA’s continued projects that benefit the Tamil Community at large, not just in Singapore but overseas as well.
