Vanigavettai is an entrepreneurship programme jointly organized by the Tamils Representative Council Youth Wing and the NTU Tamil Literary Society. This programme was exclusively organized for the Indian youths to provide them with a platform to gain guidance from industry experts on starting up companies as entrepreneurs. Youths participating in the event were grouped into teams, attended knowledge building workshops, a camp, a networking event and finally a Symposium for them to pitch their ideas and knowledge gained through the 5-month programme.

 

Each team also has specialised coaching with their industry-specific mentors. 4 industries - Education, Technology, F&B and Retail. Each mentor guided the teams in terms of scoping their business ideas to meet the industry-specific demands. They also added value by giving the teams invaluable advice on how to make their business ideas saleable.

 

The knowledge building workshop covered a wide range of topics right from ideation creation to financial and legal planning. We had various experts from diverse fields to conduct the workshop. We have had Mr Jeremy Aruldoss - Senior Manager from Ministry of Manpower who conducted a session on customer experience, University professor from NUS Business school and the Vice President of a prominent bank - Mr Tham Shanmugam and many more.

 

Following these workshops, a networking fair was held for all participants and youths where various Industry experts shared their experience and expertise. Participants were able to interact with entrepreneurs from companies such as Pottu Kara Maami, Rupini’s Holistic Beauty Holdings, ThinkTamil Academy through this networking fair.

 

Following this, an exciting 2-day camp was organized for the participants on the 1st and 2nd of June 2019. The games in the camp were designed to specifically hone their entrepreneurial skills.

Finally, a Symposium was held on the 22nd of June 2019 where each team shared their business project to a panel of Judges. The judges then chose the top three teams. We hope that all participants were able to benefit from this programme and grow into successful entrepreneurs!
